Information overload – details are coming at you at a faster pace than ever before. Media outlets report contradictory or conflicting information about domestic and world affairs. How can you know what is true? God’s Word says to be discerning. Discernment is the ability to gather counsel, examine a situation, apply a good dose of experience, stand back to get a perspective, and then take the appropriate steps—accept what is true and discard what is error. Ask the Lord to train you in discernment through His Holy Spirit. Jesus promised in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit would guide you into all truth. Also, be a student of the Word of God. If something does not line up with what the Lord says, reject it! Remember, God will not have you tossed to and fro by deception. His desire for you is to be knowledgeable and have the good judgment that comes with discernment.
