Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently announced that U.S. visas would be denied for foreign officials who have censored the free speech rights of Americans. Secretary Rubio stated, “Foreigners who work to undermine the rights of Americans should not enjoy the privilege of traveling to our country.”
Pray for Secretary Rubio and members of the State Department as they seek to prevent the imprisonment of U.S. citizens in foreign nations for expressing their opinions.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
House Speaker Mike Johnson outlined plans to codify DOGE savings in legislation to follow up on the “Big, Beautiful Bill” that supports President Trump’s agenda. He highlighted how rules in the Senate prohibit reductions in discretionary spending in a reconciliation bill for mandatory spending. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia stated she wants “to pass DOGE cuts every single week until the bloated out of control government is reigned back in.”
Pray for Speaker Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Thune as they work within the parameters of their chamber rules.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, a member of the Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, has urged the Justice Department to open an investigation into an autonomous trucking company owned by a Chinese businessman. The senator alleged that American intellectual property information was being relayed to the communist government of China in “a blatant disregard” of its agreement with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) in 2022.
Pray for members of the Senate and House committees as they seek to safeguard national security and ensure foreign investors comply with federal laws.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court decided not to take up a case pertaining to the assault weapon ban by the state of Maryland. Justice Brett Kavanaugh indicated that several similar cases are making their way through lower federal courts and that the Supreme Court “should and presumably will address the AR–15 issue soon, in the next Term or two.”
Pray for the justices of the Supreme Court to be discerning as they consider which cases to hear and which ones to defer.
