DHS may proceed as an appeal in the case is pending.
The Supreme Court granted a stay on Friday against a lower court order that stopped President Donald Trump’s administration from terminating “categorical parole programs” while an appeal is pending before the First Circuit Court. The president had ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to end the Temporary Protected Status program for citizens of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela which allowed them to stay in the United States for 18 months due to conflicts in their homelands. The previous administration had extended the program before its deadline prior to President Trump’s inauguration.
“Today’s decision is a victory for the American people,” stated DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “[President Biden’s administration] allowed more than half a million poorly vetted aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members to enter the United States through these disastrous parole programs; granted them opportunities to compete for American jobs and undercut American workers.”
Earlier this month, the high court permitted the administration to end protected status under the program for 320,000 Venezuelans.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump, DHS Secretary Noem, and Border Czar Homan as they seek to return illegal aliens to their countries of origin.
- For the justices of the Supreme Court as they continue to release decisions for cases they have heard earlier this term.
