Issue 700 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel announced that his agency will be moving out of the J. Edgar Hoover Building and will transfer 1,500 workers from the District of Columbia to other locations in the nation. He said that while a third of the FBI workforce is located within 50 miles of Washington, “a third of the crime doesn’t happen here.”

Pray for President Trump and the heads of all federal agencies and departments as they seek to streamline and improve government efficiency.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, both of Iowa, have referred for prosecution Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) officials who misclassified administrative workers as “law enforcement.” The senators wrote to President Trump’s administration, “We raised concerns because as a result of ATF’s illegal conduct, ATF staff assigned to these positions performed administrative work but unlawfully received enhanced law enforcement pay and benefits to which they were not entitled, wasting millions of taxpayer dollars.”

Pray for senators and representatives as they provide oversight for federal agencies.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma, stated that discussions on the Qatari plane being considered to replace Air Force One began a year ago under President Biden’s administration. He said, “It didn’t start in the Trump administration. Why? Because we need a backup for Air Force One. Because right now, the President of the United States is flying around on a 40-year-old plane and there is no backup for it.”

Pray for members of the House and Senate as they engage in budget reconciliation for the president’s agenda.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

A panel of the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that private individuals cannot bring discrimination suits against election policies under the Voting Rights Acts. The majority decided that enforcement of that provision lies with the Department of Justice alone.

Pray for district and circuit judges as they hear and issue opinions on immigration and election cases.
