NTSB Prepares Investigation Into Reagan Airport Midair Collision

The agency urges the public to withhold speculation as evidence is gathered.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) held a press conference on Friday, offering the first glimpses of its investigation into the deadly midair crash near Ronald Reagan National Airport on Wednesday.

Board member Todd Inman confirmed that investigators recovered the black box for the Black Hawk helicopter involved in the incident, and that its voice recorder should be easily recovered after its retrieval from the Potomac River. The two black boxes from the American Airlines jet were recovered on Thursday.

“We’re here to ensure the American people that we are going to leave no stone unturned in this investigation,” said NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy, noting the probe is in the very early stages. “We are going to conduct a thorough investigation of this entire tragedy, looking at the facts.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Chair Homendy as she heads the NTSB.
  • For federal officials as they gather the evidence in the investigation into the collision.
