VERSE OF THE WEEK
There was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. – Luke 2:25
Waiting
Some Christians, who have waited on God for a long time for something, lose confidence in Him when that something has not happened. There are numerous places in the Bible where believers had to wait, sometimes a very long time, for the fulfillment of His promise to them. The verse that follows today’s above says that the Holy Spirit had told Simeon that he would not die before he saw the Messiah. Who knows how long it was from the time the Lord revealed this until Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple?! Have you grown impatient or started to lose hope? There will be times of waiting. Times when you wish God would hurry up and resolve some situation in your life. Know for certain that God is going to do precisely what He promises. Stay connected to the Lord through His Word, in prayer, and fellowship. Remember the blessings He has given you with thanksgiving. Seek peace, joy, and love as you exercise your faith and your confidence will be rewarded.
