Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Environmental Protection Agency arrested a Californian for “smuggling greenhouse gases“ into the nation from Mexico. He was selling the hydrofluorocarbons online. A U.S. attorney stated, “We are using every means possible to protect our planet from the harm caused by toxic pollutants, including bringing criminal charges.”
Pray for the president and members of his administration as they pursue environmental goals in the final weeks of their term.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell decried the decisions of two federal judges to reverse their retirements after the 2024 presidential election. Senator McConnell said, “Looking to history, only two judges have ever unretired after a presidential election,“ and “this sort of partisan behavior undermines the integrity of the judiciary.“
Pray for members of the House and Senate as they assess the necessary legislation and investigations in the remainder of the current session.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Intelligence Committee chair, Representative Mike Turner, called on President Biden’s administration to impose consequences against China for its massive hack on U.S. telecommunication carriers. “This… doesn’t need just a technological fix,” he stated. “This needs also a diplomatic fix, a nation-to-nation consequences to China.” He added that China is America’s greatest threat.
Pray for the chairs and members of House and Senate committees as they provide oversight to the executive branch and federal agencies.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld an Idaho law that criminalizes an adult taking a minor into another state for an abortion without parental consent. They did allow “counseling“ regarding abortions, stating, “If counseling those who are about to obtain abortions to instead carry their pregnancies to term is undoubtedly protected speech, then surely the opposite is true as well.“
Pray for federal judges and justices to receive wisdom from the Lord as they deliberate and issue rulings.
