The second devastating hurricane in two weeks requires his domestic attention.
The White House announced that President Joe Biden is postponing international travels to remain in the United States while it recovers from two devastating hurricanes.
The White House stated, “Given the projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton, President Biden is postponing his upcoming trip to Germany and Angola in order to oversee preparations for and the response to Hurricane Milton, in addition to the ongoing response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene across the Southeast.”
The president was set to attend a war summit in Germany discussing Ukraine, and had promised to visit an African country before his term in office ends in January. The German government issued a statement saying that they “understand” his cancellation “due to the situation in Florida.” President Biden plans to reschedule the visit to Angola.
After being briefed on the situation by government officials, the president concluded that Milton “could be one of the worst storms in 100 years to hit Florida.” He opted “to increase the size and presence” of the federal government’s response in the area.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president, vice president, and members of the administration as they respond to Hurricane Milton.
- For wisdom for Administrator Criswell as she oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
