U.S. and China Hold AI Discussion in Switzerland

Officials are seeking mutually agreeable rules to reduce artificial intelligence risks.

As the United States and China vie for supremacy in artificial intelligence (AI) technology policy, representatives from the White House National Security Council and Departments of State and Commerce will hold a top-level dialogue with Chinese officials in Switzerland on Tuesday to discuss security measures that could reduce inherent risks.

The hope is that AI talks may yield rules that all nations could agree on. Regarding China, a U.S. official stated, “We certainly don’t see eye to eye… on many AI topics and applications, but we believe that communication on critical AI risks can make the world safer.”

The U.S. has concerns over China’s use of AI capabilities and the threats they pose to U.S. and allied national security.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for the representatives of the U.S. and China as they discuss potential rules to govern the use of AI.
  • For Secretaries Blinken and Raimondo as they oversee the implementation of AI guidelines to protect national security in the State and Commerce Departments.
