House Passes Antisemitism Awareness Act

The measure would require the Department of Education to use a definition of antisemitism from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

The House of Representatives passed legislation to address antisemitism. The Antisemitism Awareness Act would mandate the Department of Education to use a definition of antisemitism from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance in the enforcement of federal anti-discrimination laws.

Representative Mike Lawler of New York, who introduced the bill, said, “I’m thankful for the bipartisan support of the Antisemitism Awareness Act and for the support from a wide range of Jewish organizations that are standing up, endorsing this legislation, and saying enough is enough.”

Opponents of the act say that it could infringe on free speech and lead to censorship. The measure now awaits action in the U.S. Senate.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and members of the Senate to be discerning as they consider the act to enhance protections against antisemitism.
  • For members of Congress to receive God’s guidance as they seek to address the issues in American society.
