Prosecutors Investigate Meta For Possible Involvement in Illegal Drug Sales

FDA assists in the review of records from the social media company.

Federal prosecutors have begun a probe into Facebook’s parent company, Meta, to determine whether its social media platforms facilitate and profit from the sale of illegal drugs. Meta has released a number of shop-like features on both Facebook and Instagram in recent years, and prosecutors have requested records related to drug content on those platforms.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also been involved in helping with investigations.

Meta stated that the company works to prevent the use of their platforms for any illegal business.

“The sale of illicit drugs is against our policies and we work to find and remove this content from our services,” a spokesperson said. “Meta proactively cooperates with law enforcement authorities to help combat the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For federal investigators as they review records to determine whether the social media company has profited from illegal drug sales.
  • For wisdom for FDA officials as they assist in the investigation of Facebook, Instagram, and their parent company, Meta.
