Congress Passes Short-Term Government Funding

The deadlines for appropriations have been moved back to March 8 and March 22, respectively.

The Senate and House of Representatives approved a short-term resolution to continue funding the federal government and provide time for legislators to negotiate outstanding unresolved parts of appropriations for the remainder of fiscal year 2024.

Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut said there are provisions regarding SNAP and WIC benefits that are still being discussed.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said he expects the text of legislation to be released over the weekend so members of Congress have plenty of time to read it before the measures come to the floor for a vote next week.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate as they consider the short-term measures passed by the House.
  • For negotiators on both sides as they resolve the differences in priorities between congressional chambers.
