Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

Vice President Kamala Harris reiterated the United States’ commitment to support Ukraine when she met with President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference in Germany. She stated, “It is in the strategic interest of the United States to continue our support. International rules and norms are on the line, including the fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

For the president, vice president, and administration officials as they continue to seek congressional support for aid to Ukraine.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

The House of Representatives is forming a bipartisan task force that will seek ways to address concerns that surround artificial intelligence. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced that the task force would produce a comprehensive report so that legislation may be crafted to provide “guardrails that may be appropriate to safeguard the nation against current and emerging threats.”

Pray for members of the House AI Task Force as they evaluate the risks and threats of generative AI technology.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation crafted the Kids Online Safety Act to safeguard children and hold tech companies accountable for the safety of online spaces that are available to minors. Ranking member Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said, “As the parent of teenagers, I hope my congressional colleagues will come together to pass this legislation to help address the crises of depression and suicide that children across the country are facing in part because of social media.“

Pray for members of the congressional committees as they hold hearings and craft legislation.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The Supreme Court declined to consider if potential jurors may be excluded due to their religious views. The Missouri attorney general had appealed to the high court after three potential jurors were excluded from a case after they acknowledged holding conservative Christian values.

Pray for the Supreme Court justices as they consider which requests for appeal they will take up.
