Issue 633 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The West Point Military Academy will be allowed to continue the use of affirmative action after the Supreme Court declined a request that would block it. The justices said the request was “underdeveloped.”

Pray for military officials and leaders as they promote diversity in the U.S. military.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

A Turkish defense company is building a factory to manufacture drones. Ukraine has experienced success using drones against Russia’s artillery systems and armored vehicles.

Pray for discernment for U.S. and allied officials as they continue to support Ukraine against Russia.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

North Korea has continued to test ballistic missiles, most recently firing an anti-aircraft missile of its west coast. The U.S. State Department has expressed the desire to engage North Korea to “manage military risks” in the hopes of “complete denuclearization.”

Pray for Secretary Blinken and U.S. ambassadors and diplomats as they seek to discuss arms control with North Korean officials.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Secretary of State Antony Blinken is involved in discussions for a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas for the release of hostages and additional aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

Pray for U.S. diplomats and Israeli leaders to be prudent as they deliberate a temporary ceasefire.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The FDA Anesthesiology and Respiratory Therapy Devices Panel is seeking to increase the accuracy of pulse oximeter readings for those with darker skin. A doctor on the panel said, “This technology has and continues to save lives on a daily basis in this country. … It needs to be improved. We need to look at health disparities, and we need to do better.“

For officials in the FDA as they seek to ensure the best healthcare outcomes for all Americans.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

The Department of Commerce reported that 350,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in January. The department also stated that hourly wages rose 0.6 percent over December, and increased 4.5 percent year-over-year.

Pray for U.S. economic officials as they assess and release employment and wage data.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The state legislature of Minnesota is considering clarifications for a law barring school resource officers from using certain types of force on students. The language that was intended to prohibit face-down restraints is vague enough to be interpreted as not allowing any physical intervention until someone is hurt.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey expressed her support for limited school vouchers, restrictions on absentee ballots, and gambling measures that the state legislature will be taking up. The last time gambling was proposed, in 1999, the measure was voted down.

Pray for state governors and legislatures as they address school safety, school choice, election issues, and revenue creation.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“A crisis is a time of difficulty, trouble, or danger. A conquest is the act or a process of conquering. We are facing many challenges in our nation and world. But the fact that we can come to this place, in this nation, and lift our hearts across the religious spectrum in prayer and praise is compelling proof that there is a force that can turn our crisis into conquest. … When praises go up, the blessings come down!“ – Senate Chaplain Barry Black, National Prayer Breakfast, February 2024
