What’s in Store

We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.     Romans 5:2

Magnificent. Worthy. Lovely. Grand. Creation and Redemption on display. These are a few of the ways people have described the glory of God. The glory of the Lord is woven in and out of nearly every biblical story—from creation to the birth and life of Jesus, to the Savior’s resurrection and ascension, and the coming full victory of those who believe. One old hymn declares that it will be glory for the believer just to look on the face of Jesus. And that is part of the hope Christians hold on to… the glories that await in the Heavenly realm.

However, there is glory in store for you right now as a follower of Christ. You stand in the grace of God! He has pardoned you. He has filled you with His Spirit. The Lord provides blessings for you every day and His mercies are new every morning. That should cause you to rejoice now! He gives you peace beyond human understanding. He is always there with you. God gives you strength for the day, and armor to wear for when the battle gets tough. So, rejoice!

Let your inner rejoicing bring such a smile to your face and a glow to your being that you will be compelled to share that hope with others. Pray for those in government who think that now is all there is—that there is nothing to hope for, and that the world itself is in despair. Pray that they will turn from their pessimism and discover the Prince of all hope, Jesus.

Today’s Verse: Romans 5:2

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
    and cry to her
that her warfare is ended,
    that her iniquity is pardoned,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
    double for all her sins.

3 A voice cries:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord;
    make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up,
    and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
    and the rough places a plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
    and all flesh shall see it together,
    for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint.
