Defense Department Issues China Military Power Report

The report states China’s navy, the largest in the world, continues to expand.

The Department of Defense has released its annual “China Military Power Report,” identifying the scope of the global ambitions and structural changes of that nation. The report highlights China’s progress toward being the preeminent military power in Asia and the Pacific, and what the U.S. is doing to confront the threats it poses.

According to the report, China has the world’s largest naval fleet which continues to grow. Its air force is the largest in the Indo-Pacific and is increasing at a pace that could make it the largest in the world. The report states China’s nuclear arsenal could well match that of the U.S. by 2032.

While some, such as Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska, believe the report overstates China’s economy and military spending capacity, others are concerned that the report underestimates China’s overall global threat.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate and House of Representatives to have discernment regarding the report as they negotiate appropriations for the 2024 fiscal year.
  • For the president and his administration officials to receive God’s wisdom in dealing with and responding to China.
