The one who humbles himself will be exalted. – Luke 18:14

Have you given thought to what it means to be humble? The definition of humility is “having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s own importance.” Those who are humble do not seek attention and accolades. They have a peaceful demeanor and are content to magnify God rather than receive human praise. Today’s scripture references those who are humble, and how those who seek no acclaim will be held in high regard by God. As you pray today for the leaders of this nation to serve humbly and work behind the scenes to do what is best for the nation, ask the Lord to reveal any area in your life where you lack humility. Intercede on behalf of believers in this country to humbly value their reward in heaven, which is far greater than any reward on earth.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For all who serve in the president’s administration to develop humility before God.
  • For believers who are serving at various levels of government office to be humble witnesses of God’s goodness.
