Issue 625 – Verse of the Week

December 14th – December 20th, 2023

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.     1 Peter 4:10

Give Joy

As the much-loved season of joy—Christmastide—enters its midpoint, some may start to feel the onset of the blues. However, God has provided ways out of melancholy feelings. Gladness and joy are the fruit of God’s Spirit dwelling deep within because of your relationship with the Savior born in Bethlehem! He provides a garment of praise to replace a spirit of heaviness or despair (Isaiah 61:3), so make sure you sing to Him! You can offer gratitude to the Lord for the blessings He has given you and then sow Christmas joy by serving others. This might be a simple note of encouragement to a shut-in, an offer to babysit for a single mother, or a plate of homemade goodies for the neighbor people seldom see. There are ministries such as soup kitchens, shelters, or group homes that would appreciate your smiling presence as a volunteer. Give joy to others this Christmas by sharing Jesus’ love!
