It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened. – Luke 13:21

For those who bake with yeast, the understanding of properly incorporating it into the dough is familiar. If it is not mixed correctly, the bread will not rise as it should. Today’s verse is one of the answers to the question in Luke 13:20, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?“ The powerful influence of God in your life, and the impact that believers have on society, is likened to the permeating of leaven throughout the dough. To spread the kingdom of God on this earth, followers of Christ first absorb the Word of God, then spread it to others through their words, behavior, and actions. In Mark 16:15, Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. Ask the Lord to lead you in how to pray for, teach, and encourage people to come to salvation and follow Him. Intercede for those in government who do not know Him.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For members of Congress as they determine which laws and bills to pass.
  • For U.S. education officials as they impact the future with the “leaven” of curricula.
