Treasury Sanctions Belarusian Officials for Deporting Ukrainian Children

UN reports hundreds of thousands of children have been moved from Ukraine to Russia.

The Department of the Treasury has sanctioned 11 entities and seven individuals in Belarus, applying pressure to the Belarusian government to stop their support of Russia’s deportation of Ukrainian children. The United Nations has estimated that Russia has now transferred “hundreds of thousands” of children from Ukraine to Russia during their ongoing attack on the country, and the government of Belarus, led by President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, has been using their military and local Red Cross branch to illegally move both funding and children to aid Russia’s efforts.

“We will continue to target the Lukashenka regime’s revenue generators, his so-called personal ‘wallets,’ and actors who facilitate Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, coordinate the movement of children from Ukraine to Belarus, and support Lukashenka’s authoritarian regime,” said Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Under Secretary Nelson to be led by God as he heads the Treasury’s Office for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
  • For wisdom Secretary Yellen as she oversees the Department of the Treasury.
