Ukrainian President Zelensky Cancels Senate Classified Meeting

Debates intensify regarding ongoing Ukraine funding.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky canceled a classified meeting on Tuesday, the day before the Senate was set to vote on $61 billion for Ukraine’s continued defense. As some senators have become skeptical of continuing funding for Ukraine, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer scheduled a secure video conference to allow President Zelensky to brief senators on the current state of its war with Russia.

Senator Schumer did not offer the reason for the Ukrainian president’s cancellation. President Zelensky’s chief of staff said that there is a risk of Ukraine being defeated if the United States does not continue to support that nation.

Legislators on Capitol Hill are still debating additional support for Ukraine. On Monday, Speaker of the House Mike Johson stated, “The Biden Administration has failed to substantively address any of my conference’s legitimate concerns about the lack of a clear strategy in Ukraine, a path to resolving the conflict, or a plan for adequately ensuring accountability for aid provided by American taxpayers.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senate Majority Leader Schumer as he endeavors to gain support for Ukrainian aid.
  • For Speaker Johnson as he seeks further information regarding the administration’s strategy regarding the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
