Issue 619 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

President Biden’s administration is investing $1.3 billion in transmission lines to improve reliability and strengthen critical infrastructure to keep power flowing through the grid. The funds are being allotted under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Pray for U.S. energy officials as they seek to manage and maintain legacy and alternate sources of power and their distribution networks.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

The new Speaker of the House Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana said he will establish a bipartisan debt commission to begin working on the tough decisions affecting the economy. He said, “The greatest threat to our national security is our national debt… it’s unsustainable.”

Pray for Speaker Johnson and the many challenges he faces, including opposition from those in Congress who do not wish to reduce spending.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

Ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa, said they have begun an investigation into the Justice Department’s targeting of congressional investigators probing Crossfire Hurricane malfeasance. Reports have circulated that current and former congressional oversight staff have had phone records seized by the Justice Department going as far back as 2017, raising concerns about separation of powers and efforts to intimidate investigators.

Pray for members of congressional committees as they exercise their oversight responsibilities with investigations.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

A U.S. District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order barring President Biden’s administration from destroying or tampering with the concertina wire fence Texas had installed as a temporary measure designed to protect its border with Mexico. The Department of Homeland Security had ordered border agents to cut it so that illegal migrants could cross through.

Pray for wisdom for federal judges as they hear and decide cases regarding the nation’s many border issues.
