FBI Records Fewer Murders, More Theft in 2022

The agency compiled data submitted by over 13,000 law enforcement agencies.

The Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI) recently released annual data on criminal offenses in America for 2022, documenting a reduction in violent crimes and a rise in theft.

Titled “2022 Crime in the Nation Statistics,“ the data compiled reports of crime filed with the FBI and local data submitted by 13,293 law enforcement agencies, documenting crimes committed in jurisdictions covering 256 million U.S. citizens. This data combined with FBI reports represents coverage for about 93.5 percent of the U.S. population in 2022.

Highlights of the report include a 6.1 percent decrease in murder and non-negligent manslaughter and a 5.4 percent decrease in the revised rape category between 2021 and 2022. Robbery increased by 1.3 percent nationally. The FBI also documented over 13,000 hate crimes committed nationally in the last year.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Director Christopher Wray to look to the Lord for guidance in heading the FBI.
  • For FBI agents to investigate federal crimes and uphold the law impartially.
  • For Justice Department officials as they prosecute federal crimes and defense federal laws.
