Senate Accelerates Nomination Process for Ambassador to Israel

The Foreign Relations Committee plans to hold Jack Lew’s confirmation hearing on October 18.

The Senate could vote to confirm President Joe Biden’s nominee for ambassador to Israel as soon as this week.

The terrorist attack on Israel has spurred Congress into action, and taking steps to quickly fill the empty position of ambassador to Israel will help the U.S. in support of the Middle Eastern country. President Biden has nominated Jack Lew to the position, who previously served as the Secretary of the Treasury in President Obama’s administration.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee announced that they will be holding Lew’s confirmation hearing on October 18. It is expected that a full Senate vote to confirm Lew may be held the day after, though it has not yet been scheduled.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland as he oversees the confirmation hearing.
  • For discernment for members of the Foreign Relations Committee as they hear testimony on the nominee.
  • For the president and administration officials to seek God’s direction in nominating individuals to posts in the government.
