NHTSA Expanding Investigation into Faulty Ford “Nano” Engines

Preliminary evaluation opens inquiry into 2.7 L and 3.0 L engines.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has expanded its investigation of 2021 Ford Broncos to include 2021 Ford Edges, Explorers, and F-150s. The NHTSA received more than 800 consumer complaints reporting similar instances of a sudden loss of power while driving the 2021 Ford Broncos. This prompted officials to open a preliminary investigation in June 2022, examining 25,000 units of the 2021 Ford Bronco to determine the source of the issue.

After concluding their examination, the NHTSA found that “the alleged defect is present across the ‘Nano’ engine family, which includes both the 2.7L and 3.0L EcoBoost engine variants,” they said in their report this week. They will begin examining 708,000 units of Ford SUVs as they open a formal investigation into Ford “Nano” engines.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Administrator Ann Carlson to seek God’s direction as she oversees the NHTSA.
  • For NHTSA officials as they investigate the issues with the Ford vehicles that have Nano engines.
  • For safety for Americans who own and drive Fords containing this engine.
