Issue 614 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

A Government Accountability Office inspection report found that many barracks that house junior American service members fall short of Defense Department privacy and health standards. The report showed that the housing is often overcrowded and under-maintained, posing serious risks to those who occupy them.

Pray that leaders in the Department of Defense would use some resources to improve living conditions for service members.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The prime minister of Poland announced that his country will stop providing weapons to Ukraine due to a growing dispute over Ukrainian grain exports that Poland says endangers the livelihood of their local farmers. “We are now arming Poland,” the prime minister stated.

Pray for European leaders as they address concerns from local farmers regarding the lower prices of Ukrainian grain.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

In a new record high, during one 24-hour period, China’s military sent 103 warplanes toward Taiwan. As usual, they turned back before reaching Taiwan. Taiwan, on the cusp of a presidential election, asked China for restraint, saying the Chinese military program poses “severe challenges” to security in the Taiwan Strait.

Pray for Taiwan and its allies to be wise in responding to the ongoing provocations of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say toxic PFAS chemicals found in everyday household items such as cookware, packaging, cosmetics, and furniture, can increase the risk of the development of multiple cancers in women. These “forever chemicals“ have also been found in just under 50 percent of all U.S. drinking water.

Pray for U.S. officials as they seek to address the cancer risks of the forever chemicals found in so many products and even in drinking water.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

The United Nations, under its UNESCO program, has made Jericho a protected site and placed it under the Palestinian Authority. Israel’s ambassador to the UN said, “UNESCO’s recent decision regarding the ruins of Jericho is yet another example of the Palestinians’ continued attempt to erase Jewish history and exploit the U.N.’s twisted political structure. Jericho was the entry point for the Israelite people into the Land of Israel. Any denial of this fact is shameful and wrong, and nothing will change the truth. Israel does not recognize or accept UNESCO’s distorted decision and will continue to fight against its legitimacy.”

Pray for Israeli leaders as they address the protection of the historic ruin as a World Heritage Site.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

New polling by Morning Consult shows 92 percent of Americans have cut back on their spending over the past six months, and 76 percent have plans to continue reduced spending on non-essential items. Some 62 percent say they will not spend as much on essential items over the next six months. They report that inflation has risen 16.9 percent since January 2021.

Pray for U.S. economic officials as they evaluate the impact that inflation has had on most household budgets.

Pray for Goodness in America

A new report from the Institute for Family Studies says children growing up in a two-parent, stable household have greater education, financial, and social outcomes over the source of their lifetimes. This counters popular contemporary perspectives that view marriage as not important to child-rearing.

Pray for household structures across America, and that parents and society would see the greater benefits of stable, two-parent families.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of Georgia told legislators that proposed security enhancements for election security might be possible. However, he said they would cost $32.5 million, and would not be enforced prior to the 2024 election.

The Vermont Agency of Education and School Construction Task Force is trying to determine who should pay for needed upgrades to state public schools. Many communities do not have adequate tax bases to fund the projects, but the state has a moratorium on paying for new schools out of the Education Fund.

Pray for states that face issues over election reforms and education needs.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“I am a practical Christian biblicist who believes that Jesus is the only hope for America. But, that hope will not be realized unless pastors are teaching the truth, Christians are living the truth, and the world is hearing the truth through our lives. That’s the only way this is going to happen. Martin Luther once said, ‘If you preach the Gospel in all aspects, with the exception of the issues which deal specifically with your time, you are not preaching the Gospel at all.’“ – Pastor Gary Hammick, Cornerstone Chapel, Leesburg, Virginia, September 2023
