Commerce Department Releases Funding for Pacific Salmon Recovery

The investment support conservation efforts in Alaska and Northwestern states.

The Department of Commerce and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have released $106 million to stabilize and grow the salmon populations along the Pacific coast.

Twenty-eight species of salmon and steelheads in the area are listed under the Endangered Species Act. This funding will be distributed to 16 state and Tribal conservation programs in Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington to address the factors required to help these species recover.

“This funding, made possible in part by President Biden’s historic Investing in America agenda, provides an important opportunity to bolster salmon and steelhead recovery and invest in the communities that rely on them,” said Secretary Gina Raimondo. “The diligent work carried out by NOAA Fisheries and partners will help ensure the funding reaches regions and fish populations where it is needed most.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Raimondo to seek God’s leading as she heads the Commerce Department.
  • For Under Secretary Rick Spinrad as he oversees the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
