Commerce Secretary Responds to China Lifting Travel Restrictions

She expresses hope that this will encourage tourism between the two nations.

Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo commended China’s decision to restore group travel permissions to foreign countries, including the United States. China has had a number of strict travel restrictions in place since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the lifting of these restrictions shows the country’s continued emergence from its quarantine-focused mindset.

“This has been the culmination of months of hard work between the U.S. Department of Commerce and the People’s Republic of China Ministry of Culture and Tourism,” Secretary Raimondo said. “Today’s action to restore the United States as an approved destination for Chinese group travel is a significant win for the U.S. travel and tourism industry and an important step forward to promote the type of people-to-people exchange that is crucial for our bilateral relationship.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Raimondo to seek God’s wisdom as she heads the Commerce Department.
  • For U.S. commerce officials as they promote tourism between this nation and other countries.
