U.S. Sending F-16s to Protect Shipping in Middle East

Pentagon also considers increasing other military presence in the region.

The U.S. Defense Department announced it is increasing its use of fighter jets to stop Iranians from seizing ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran tried to seize two oil tankers again last week which led to this measure to improve shipping security. The Pentagon already has A-10 Thunderbolts patrolling the area.

The Pentagon is considering further military options as Russian military activity has increased in the Middle East. U.S. officials stated that Iran, Syria, and Russia are pressuring the U.S. to withdraw from Syria. Russia has received support from Iran in its war on Ukraine, and Iran would have easier access to Israel were the U.S. out of Syria.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For General Kurilla as he heads the U.S. Central Command which oversees the Middle East.
  • For Secretary Austin to seek God’s direction as he leads the Defense Department.
  • For Pentagon officials as they increase U.S. military presence in the Strait of Hormuz.
