Issue 602 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

In a heavily redacted unclassified review, the State Department confirmed that the ultimate execution of the United States military’s departure from Afghanistan “posed significant challenges for the Department.” Officials said rushing the withdrawal “compounded the difficulties the Department faced in mitigating the loss of the military’s key enablers” and the lack of planning “had serious consequences for the viability of the Afghan government and its security.”

Pray for leaders in the U.S. military as they face the ongoing repercussions created by the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The Department of Defense acknowledged an accounting error had been made in the value of military aid the U.S. has sent to Ukraine by $6.2 billion over the past two years. The value is double the amount it first estimated.

Pray for U.S. governing officials as they have continued to send American taxpayer dollars to Ukraine in its defense against Russia.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

Slow but steady progress is being reported as the Ukrainian offensive goes forward. The British Military Intelligence assessment reports that Ukrainian forces continue attacking along four main areas of advance in the south and in the Donbas region.

Pray for officials on both sides who are trying to find peaceful solutions to the conflict.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended a single dose of an RSV vaccine for Americans aged 60 and older. New vaccines to protect against severe respiratory illnesses are expected to be available in the fall.

Pray for CDC and health care officials as they release additional vaccines for a variety of illnesses and viruses.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

The U.S. State Department halted funding and cooperation with Israel on technological and scientific research projects based in the West Bank. Officials said the decision is intended to align with the international consensus that views as illegal the Israeli occupation of West Bank territories claimed by the Palestinians. The State Department says this reinforces U.S. foreign policy commitment to the two-state Israeli-Palestinian solution.

Pray for the president and U.S. officials as they shift policies and support regarding Israel’s relationship with the Palestinians.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

The Economic Confidence Index from Gallup rose by 11 points in June, with some signs of inflation slowing down. Unemployment has remained low, but a new Gallup survey shows that two-thirds of Americans say the economy is worsening overall.

Pray for fiscal and economic advisors as they provide recommendations to the president.

Pray for Goodness in America

Eight years after vanishing while walking his dogs, Rudy Farras, a then-teenage Texas youth has been found safe. His family had feared he had been trafficked or worse. There are no details on his last eight years, but a the center for the missing children stated, “Please continue to keep this family in your prayers as Rudy recovers in the hospital.”

Pray for this family as they reunite, and for the tens of thousands of families dealing with missing children across the U.S.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama has called for a special session of the legislature to begin July 17 to address the need to draw new congressional maps imposed by a ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court. The court rejected current maps as a violation of the Voting Rights Act due to the dissecting of minority communities.

The Attorney General of Missouri has opened an investigation into so-called “service centers” in his state operated by a Chinese Communist Party intelligence service. He called the Chinese offices “deeply concerning” and said, “The threat posed by the CCP is very real.” Similar service centers have opened in at least seven U.S. cities.

Pray for the state legislatures that have been directed to redraw congressional districts.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“The Word of God has stood the test of time and you can depend on it. … But it’s not just enough to read it. You must process it. And then you must obey it, doing what it says. James writes: ‘Don’t just listen to God’s Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves… If you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.‘ That’s the Word of God, and you can take it to the bank.“ – Pastor Greg Laurie, Harvest Churches, California, June 2023
