May 31st – Wednesday

Finally brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. – 2 Corinthians 13:11

As you consider today’s verse, what comes to mind when you think of restoration? Perhaps the renovation of a home or of an item, such as a door or piece of furniture, that has had too many coats of paint layered on it. The first step in restoration is identifying what needs to go. In a kitchen renovation, for instance, a decision has to be made whether to give the cabinets a ‘facelift’ or to replace them entirely. In the spiritual life, it is vital to be aware of and identify the qualities that align with the Spirit of God and those traits that do not. Lack of attention to the details of attitudes, behaviors, and mentalities can cause a drift from the path that leads to new life in Christ. As you pray for federal representatives and officials today, ask the Lord to continue to restore you to His exquisite masterpiece that reflects His glory.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • That the president and his administration would come to desire God’s characteristics and ways.
  • For members of Congress as they seek to ‘renovate’ various agencies or areas of the federal government.
