Issue 595 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said the U.S. will begin buying oil next month to begin refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The administration depleted the reserves by 180 million barrels of oil last year, the largest drain in American history.

Pray for administration officials to seek the Lord as they employ energy policies.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Representative Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma sent a letter to President Biden and Treasury Secretary Yellen requesting an explanation for why a Chinese private equity firm was permitted to purchase a U.S.  educational website routinely used by American military members and students across the country.

Pray for members of the House and Senate as they exercise their oversight responsibilities.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

A bipartisan Senate task force has been formed to investigate COVID-19’s outbreak origins and how the U.S. responded. The intent is to develop a better response to future outbreaks, including the availability of medical supplies and other resources, and the role of government. The task force is being led by Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa.

Pray for members of legislative task forces and committees as they continue to learn more about the origins of the COVID-19 virus and how government should deal with pandemics in the future.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the question of whether a congressional South Carolina voting district should be restored after it was blocked by a lower court as an unconstitutional gerrymander. The high court has previously ruled that legislators must account for race in drawing up voting districts.

Pray for the Supreme Court Justices as they have outstanding rulings to issue on major cases they heard this year.
