Commerce Secretary Appoints New FirstNet Chair

Richard Carrizzo has been a board member for several years.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced that Richard Carrizzo will serve as the next Board Chair of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority). FirstNet is a partnership between the Department of Commerce and AT&T, operating a broadband network that first responders use to communicate with each other across the country.

Chief Carrizzo, a fire chief from Missouri, served as a member of the FirstNet board for four years and vice chair of the board for two years prior to this appointment. He will succeed former FirstNet Chair Stephen Benjamin, who resigned from his position to accept a new role in the White House.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo thanked the outgoing chairman for his leadership and welcomed the new chairman, saying, “Rich Carrizzo has been an outstanding FirstNet Authority Board member who will bring strong leadership to the organization during the next phase of FirstNet implementation.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Chief Rich Carrizzo as he assumes chairmanship of the FirstNet board.
  • For discernment for Secretary Raimondo as she leads the Commerce Department.
  • For first responders and law enforcement across the country as they work to assist the public.
