G20 Meeting Convenes to Address Critical Role of Agriculture

USDA Emphasizes Vital Part of Global Agricultural Science and Technology Concerns.

USDA’s Chief Scientist, Chavonda Jacobs-Young, directed the U.S. Commission to the Meeting of G20 Agricultural Chief Scientists in India where world leaders met to examine the critical global agricultural science and technology issues. Under Secretary Jacobs-Young highlighted the significance of agricultural research, advancement, and distribution investments and the importance of strategic partnerships in dealing with food shortages and global climate changes.

“G20 Agricultural Chief Scientists facilitate the advancement of agricultural research and innovation for climate change mitigation and adaptation,” said Under Secretary Jacobs-Young. “Research collaborations between countries and partnerships between the public, private and philanthropic sectors expedite the development of regionally tailored solutions and the ability to implement these innovations at a global scale.”
