Don’t Be Deceived
A new poll released by the Pew Research Center says approximately 65 percent of Americans say belief in God is not required “in order to be moral and have good values.” Of that 65 percent, fully 92 percent said religion is not important in their lives. However, the Reverend Cannon J. John of Great Britain says those who dismiss a need for God are deceiving themselves. “Certainly a person can be moral and have good character who does not have God in his life; but if he thinks those traits and the good things he does will give him eternal benefit, he is deceived. Moreover, he bears a spirit of disobedience, mocking God by ignoring the still, small voice within him that he is wrong.”
