Sustained in Faith

Those who feared the Lord spoke with one another.  Malachi 3:16

The Lord God sent His messenger, Malachi, to the people of Israel in order to declare the people’s wicked behavior and urge them to repentance so He could bless them. “Put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need” (Malachi 3:10). Imagine the open hand of God wishing to give them so much that there would be “no more need.” However, there were many who said that it was “vain to serve God” (v. 14). Their arrogance caused them to reject the blessings God was so willing to give.

There has always been a remnant. Malachi wrote that “those who feared the Lord spoke with one another” (v. 16). These believers never lost their awe for the majesty of God, submitting to His authority. They joined with like-minded people speaking kindly and lovingly to each other, encouraging one another to faith and holiness.

Humanity has not changed much over the centuries. Today, many claim there is no worth in God, but there have always been those who believe. They gather together to encourage each other to boldness in their faith. The world needs to see the love and caring, the cheerfulness of believers, to realize the goodness of God.

Join with others to give praise and honor to the Lord. Be encouraged and sustained in your faith in the Holy God. Pray for governing officials of this nation to turn from the rebelliousness of the world to let the Lord reign in their hearts instead.

Today’s Verse: Malachi 3:16
