House Unveils Lower Energy Costs Act

Intends to return energy independence to the U.S.

Members of the House leadership on Tuesday unveiled a 200-page bill that Majority Leader Steve Scalise says is intended to address the president’s energy policies.

According to Representative Scalise, red tape on energy production at home would be cut so energy costs could be lowered, and America’s dependence on foreign sources for energy and minerals would be slashed.

He said the bill’s priorities include increasing “production and processing of critical minerals.” It would also seek to expand “domestic energy production, including in the Gulf of Mexico,” and bring reform to the permitting process “for all industries” as well as streamlining “energy infrastructure and exports.”

Known as H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act will, according to Representative Scalise, “put a stop to the war on American energy, become energy independent again, and lower costs for families who are struggling.” The number of the bill indicates the level of a priority this legislation has for the House majority.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Speaker McCarthy and Congressman Scalise as they seek to increase the nation’s energy independence.
  • For wisdom for members of the House as they deliberate and vote on the legislation.
