In the News…

Representative Angie Craig was attacked in the elevator of her Washington, D.C. apartment building by a man who punched her with a closed fist and grabbed her neck. She defended herself by tossing hot coffee at him, according to police. Her assailant has been arrested.

Representative Craig, who has voted in favor of a resolution to block lower penalties for several violent offenses, said her attacker has 12 other alleged assaults on his record.

“I was assault number 13 on his record, and I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure there is not a 14,” she stated.

“We have to get these repeat offenders off the streets. We also have got to figure out how we get people the mental health and addiction help that they need because these people are getting back out and just recommitting the same crimes over and over and over again,” she said.
