In the News…

The House Oversight Chairman recently defended the hearing regarding the crisis at the nation’s southern border against claims that it was racist, saying the powerful congressional committee needed to tackle the issue properly.

After certain members of the committee said the majority was “amplifying white supremacism” with the hearing, Representative Byron Donalds of Florida responded, “For my colleagues on the other side of the aisle who want to state that we’re using this hearing for White Nationalism, I’m not doing that.“

He urged those with an opposing view to “come walk to this side of the room and let’s talk about it face-to-face.“ He added, “This stuff is serious.“

The matter was not resolved among members, but the hearings are moving forward and will bring high-profile members of the administration and others before it in the coming days.
