Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. – Matthew 6:33

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia passed away on this date in 2016 at the age of 79. He began his tenure on the Court in September of 1986 under the nomination of President Reagan. Justice Scalia was known for his originalist reading of the law and the constitution, arguing that the best legal interpretation involved understanding and implementing what the understanding of the authors of the law intended. He was also known on the court for asking the most questions during oral arguments, as well as bringing levity to the proceedings, making his colleagues laugh more than any other justice. Today, ask that the Lord would guide those in the U.S. federal justice system and that the rulings of the courts would bring about greater justice for all who live in this nation.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For wisdom for the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court and the judges throughout the federal judiciary.
  • For the will and purposes of God to be accomplished in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches of U.S. government.
