Issue 579 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

The Air Force has temporarily moved F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from Germany to Okinawa, Japan. The tensions are still rising in the Pacific, adding extra strain on global stability as the war in Ukraine continues.

For several weeks, the U.S. Coast Guard has been tracking a suspected Russian spy ship off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands. The Coast Guard is watching carefully in accordance with international law to ensure that the Russian vessel remains in compliance.

Pray for America’s military personnel stationed in the Pacific.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

As Western and NATO officials met to debate increasing aid to Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence in victory and said military successes by Ukraine during the past year have not broken “the foundation” of Russia’s military power.

The government of Poland said it would send German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Germany said, for their part, they would not be providing the much-needed tanks to help the Ukrainians.

Pray God to bring about a peaceful end to the conflict in Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

A resolution has been introduced in the House of Representatives that would authorize military action against Mexican drug cartels, in part citing the deadly fentanyl epidemic that is causing so many deaths of young people in the U.S.

Sweden’s bid to join NATO is being opposed by Turkish President Erdogan for Sweden’s allowing Kurdish Workers’ Party members to protest in front of the Turkish embassy. “So you will let terror organizations run wild on your avenues and streets and then expect our support for getting in to NATO,” Erdogan said. “That’s not happening.”

Pray for Congress as they continue to seek for ways to address the drug crisis happening across the nation.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

A record number of American adults, roughly a third, said they postponed medical treatment in 2022, primarily due to high costs in inflationary times. It is the highest by percentage recorded in 22 years, according to a poll by Gallup.

The Food and Drug Administration is considerating annual COVID vaccine boosters, similar to the approach given with flu vaccines, but it is not clear if the annual booster will be accepted by the public.

Pray for those in the federal government as they work to meet the healthcare needs of America’s citizens.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Travel between Israel and Arab countries under the Abraham Accords continued to grow. more than 600,000 Israelis have traveled between the United Arab Emirates and Israel for vacations, shopping, and other business. There are now 244 flights a week, most of them full, between Israel and the UAE.

The Ministry of Defense in Israel has formally requested to purchase 25 F-15EX fighter jets from the United States. It is unlikely to receive the requested aircraft before 2028.

Pray for U.S. governing officials to maintain support for the nation of Israel as they face hostile activity from neighboring countries.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

A new report from U.S. News & World Report shows 25 percent of millennials have moved back home with parents, and 32 percent of households have taken on a roommate as they adjust their living situations in their fights against inflation.

A group of American farmers has called on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the price increases in eggs, the price of which is up 138 percent from December a year ago, to $4.25 a dozen according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Pray for U.S. advisors to the president as they evaluate the state of the nation’s economy.

Pray for Goodness in America

A Texas woman celebrating her 100th birthday was honored for her voluntary service of 61 years at Texas Children’s Hospital. “I just loved being with people,” she said. “It’s the best.” For her selfless dedication, she was given the Mayor’s Award.

Give thanks for members of America’s older generation who continue serving in volunteer positions.

Pray for America’s Education

In Salem, New Hampshire, a senior high school student became the first student member of the school board under a new law effective January 1 that requires at least one student from any public high school to be chosen to serve as a non-voting board member.

Pray for administrators and school board members as they make policy decisions that impact the education of the next generation.

Pray for Needs Across the States

An Oregon state senator introduced the “Greater Idaho Bill” which would  give 11 of the 15 counties in eastern Oregon authorization for formal “discussions between Oregon and Idaho governments regarding the relocation of Oregon and Idaho border.” The 11 counties already “approved ballot measures regarding making eastern Oregon a part of Idaho,” with whom they say they have more in common.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders of Arkansas signed an executive order that would limit government overreach and reduce red tape in education, saying, “Education reform will be the hallmark of my administration. We can and we must do better for the kids in the state of Arkansas.”

Pray for state legislatures and governors in dealing with the issues of most concern to the people of their states.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

When we’re keeping in step with the Spirit, He can pinpoint those areas that need change. But when we get ahead of Him, trying to take life in leaps rather than steps, we tend to gloss over the daily obstacles and challenges. Our prayers become too general.  Our Bible reading becomes merely a 10K run that needs to get completed. …Jesus becomes a “goal” rather than a Person to whom we relate moment by moment. … So I say to you, I say to myself, slow down.  … If you keep running ahead, you may find yourself walking solo. And that’s not only dangerous. It’s lonely. – Joni Eareckson Tada
