January 25th – Wednesday

For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. – Philippians 2:13

On this day in 1971, two Eisenhower prototype dollars were struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Although these prototypes were destroyed, the striking of the dollar for circulation began a few days later in Denver. On March 31st, the first Eisenhower dollars in 40 percent silver, with an uncirculated finish, were struck at the San Francisco Mint (formerly known as the San Francisco Assay Office). The first coin was for presentation to Mamie Eisenhower, the second to grandson David Eisenhower, and the third to President Nixon. As of 2017, twenty-three U.S. presidents have appeared on U.S. coin and paper currency. Today, pray for those who oversee the nation’s currency that they would seek God for wisdom in all decisions for the country’s monetary system.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For Secretary Janet Yellen to seek God’s guidance as she continues the lead the U.S. Treasury Department.
  • For discernment for Director Ventris Gibson as she oversees and manages the U.S. Mint.
