DOJ Files Lawsuit for Opioid Mismanagement

Company failed to report “at least hundreds of thousands” suspicious orders.

The Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit against AmerisourceBergen Corporation for the mismanagement of its opioid distribution. AmerisourceBergen is one of the largest drug distributors in the country, and the Justice Department alleges that it failed to report “at least hundreds of thousands” of suspicious opioid orders to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta stated, “In the midst of a catastrophic opioid epidemic AmerisourceBergen allegedly altered its internal systems in a way that reduced the number of orders that would be flagged as suspicious. And even up to the orders that AmerisourceBergen identified as suspicious, the company routinely failed to report those suspicious orders.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Merrick Garland to seek God’s wisdom as he heads the DOJ.
  • For Associate Attorney General Gupta as she fills her role in the department.
  • For Justice Department attorneys as they argue cases before the courts.
