Following the deadly winter storms that struck the western United States, President Joe Biden issued an emergency declaration that stated, “The president’s action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe.”

FEMA has been authorized to provide equipment, personnel, and resources in order to aid local officials and American citizens impacted by the storms.

Earlier in the week, the president spoke to New York Governor Kathy Hochul regarding the severe conditions still ongoing in Buffalo, New York. According to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, “The president shared that his and the First Lady’s prayers are with the people of New York and all those who lost loved ones. He expressed his gratitude to the Governor for her leadership and to the National Guard, law enforcement, and first responders for their tireless work”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to direct the president and local officials as they work to respond to this emergency.
  • For God’s grace and mercy upon the millions of Americans who have suffered due to the impacts of the storms.
  • For God to be at work through the men and women who are on the ground providing aid to those in need.
