Interior Announces Funding for Wildfire Management

Supports pay increases for firefighters and new training.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced that it will be providing $228 million for wildfire management in the fiscal year 2023. Deputy Secretary of the Interior Tommy Beaudreau made the announcement while visiting the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, touring the fire-prone sites in the area that are set to receive some of this funding. This will be the first of several financial allocations made toward wildfire mitigation in the next year, which will go toward pay increases for federal firefighters and the rehabilitation of previously burned areas.

“In Colorado and across the West, communities are feeling the effects of the climate crisis in the form of worsening drought and severe wildland fires,” said Deputy Secretary Beaudreau. “These resources are vital to prevent future fires, rehabilitate burned areas and properly equip our brave firefighters on the frontlines.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Deputy Secretary Beaudreau to seek God’s guidance as he fills his roll in the department.
  • For Interior Department officials as they support efforts to prevent wildfires.
