House Vote Could Block Rail Strike

President supports the congressional intervention.

A vote is planned on Wednesday in the House of Representatives that would block a strike by railroad workers.

On Monday, in his call for Congress to take action, President Biden stated, “A rail shutdown would devastate our economy. Without freight rail, many U.S. industries would shut down. My economic advisors report that as many as 765,000 Americans – many union workers themselves – could be put out of work in the first two weeks alone.“

In announcing the vote, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “We must avoid a strike.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Speaker Pelosi as she readies the lower chamber for the vote regarding the railroad labor agreement.
  • For the president and his economic advisors as they encourage the legislative solution to prevent a strike.
  • For the heads of the labor unions and railroads as they await potential intervention by Congress.
