First Lady Attends Apprenticeship Week Kick-off

Secretaries of labor, education, and commerce also participate in Chicago.

First Lady Jill Biden joined Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo for the kick-off of National Apprenticeship Week in Chicago. They visited high schools and apprenticeship headquarters, and held a roundtable discussion where they announced a new federal program for Registered Apprenticeships in finance and accounting.

“Today’s Registered Apprenticeships create pathways to good-paying jobs and career opportunities in a wide and diverse range of occupations and industries,” said Secretary Walsh. “National Apprenticeship Week recognizes the tremendous benefits of this proven earn-as-you-learn method for equipping workers with the kinds of skills that regional, national, and global companies are seeking to strengthen their workforce.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the first lady as she supports educational and apprenticeship opportunities for U.S. students.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Walsh as he collaborates with the education and commerce secretaries on apprenticeships for American youth.
