Supply

My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.  – Philippians 4:19

While inflation has made life more difficult for Americans, people deal with extreme poverty and the ravages of war daily across the globe. There is a lack present in many American lives, even with the bills paid and the pantry full.  Spiritual apathy, the absence of a desire for God’s Word or the dedication to abide in His presence, is a condition into which many Christians fall.

Entertainment, which is in ample supply in this nation, has become a drug for young and old alike. Cultural commentators have said that America is “amusing itself to death,” and there is evidence to support the statement. But there is no new thing under the sun. The apostle Paul even encountered a culture of novelty when he visited Athens, “Now all the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there would spend their time in nothing except telling or hearing something new” (Acts 17:21).

Today, as you ask God to supply physical needs and relieve suffering around the world, pray for those who are starving spiritually in the United States! According to Pew Research in 2020, about 64 percent of those reporting a faith cited “Christian” as their response. Regardless of denomination or creed, earnestly pray today for the Lord to move in the hearts and minds of anyone with an inkling of faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ, maturing them in His Spirit.

Pray that God would supply the spiritual health needs of Americans. As you gather for worship with fellow believers, encourage those who are teaching about the Savior and the truths of God’s Word.

Today’s Verse: Philippians 4:19

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

11 Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

14 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.
