Justice Department Seizes $3.36 Billion in Cryptocurrency

Over 50,000 Bitcoin had been stolen from an illegal marketplace.

The Department of Justice has announced its second-largest-ever seizure of cryptocurrency, $3.36 billion in Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency was discovered by federal agents during the house raid of the individual who stole it from the illegal marketplace Silk Road.

IRS-Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge Tyler Hatcher said the individual “executed a sophisticated scheme designed to steal bitcoin from the notorious Silk Road Marketplace.“ The special agent added, “Once he was successful in his heist, he attempted to hide his spoils through a series of complex transactions which he hoped would be enhanced as he hid behind the mystery of the ‘darknet.’“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Justice Department officials as they track down money laundering and illegal cryptocurrency transactions.
  • For IRS Criminal Investigators as they collaborate with the DOJ regarding illegal financial activities.
  • For discernment for Attorney General Merrick Garland as he oversees the DOJ.
