Treasury Department Thwarts Russian Hackers

Shifts in cyber threat strategy appear to be effective.

The Treasury Department confirmed this week that they successfully fended off cyber attacks likely made by a pro-Russia hacker group. Multiple distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks were aimed at the Treasury’s critical cyber infrastructure nodes. The culprit remains unknown, but the Russian hacker group Killnet claimed they orchestrated a similar string of cyber attacks against JPMorgan Chase & Co just days later.

“It confirmed that we’re on the right track with how we’re trying to actually share tactical information with the sector in real time with the mind that we are interconnected and face the same threat actors,” Cyber Security Counselor Todd Conklin said, adding that this information includes downgraded intelligence and details on adversaries.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo as he provides information to the treasury secretary regarding the nation’s economy.
  • For Todd Conklin as he advises Deputy Secretary Adeyemo on cyber security.
  • With gratitude that treasury officials were able to ward off Russian hackers.
